BRIEF: Live From The Supreme Court

Weekly Brief: February 18th, 2015
Brought to you by Women's Campaign Fund

He's Waging War...On Exercise Pants
Last week, a Montana lawmaker introduced a bill that would make yoga pants illegal. How about we focus on creating laws that ACTUALLY MATTER and let women wear what they want in the process? Please, ask a woman to run today. Our country so desperately needs you.

Live From The Supreme Court, It's Ruth Bader Ginsburg
SNL's 40th anniversary was pretty epic, but you know who else has been making history for over 40 years? Justice Ginsburg. Someone needs to make a special highlighting all of her greatness. She's funny, she's smart, and she's not afraid to tell you why she fell asleep during the State of the Union.

Makin' Herstory
Today, Kate Brown became the first openly bisexual governor in the US...which is pretty hard to believe. It's even harder to believe she wasn't elected sooner. Brown is a BOSS and I can't wait to see her in action.

Clinton/Warren 2016?
Karl Rove said that Elizabeth Warren could give Hillary Clinton a "scare" if she decided to run for president. The only thing that gives me a "scare" is if either of them decides not to run. Lucky for me, that is looking rather unlikely.

Mellie Grant 2016?
Another woman with her eye on the White House in 2016: Mellie Grant. Sure, she's fictional—but I love that the idea of a woman president is being thrown out there. All in favor of Mellie Grant serving as our nation's fake president say 'I.' I!

Role Call
Women are grossly underrepresented in Hollywood. That is not an opinion—it's a straight up fact. In 2014, 12% of the top 100 grossing films had female leads. Aw, you really shouldn't have.

Let It Go
Earlier this month, Fox & Friends discussed why female-led movies like 'Frozen' are misandry. You know you have a problem when empowered animated women are too much for you.

Equality: NOW
Warning: "The World's Craziest Anti-Women Laws" will make your stomach churn. Sure, many countries have made some serious progress throughout the years—but it's not enough. It's time to get angry and take action, y'all.

The Daily Show With Jessica Williams
We are sad to see Jon Stewart go, but we are so excited to see a woman replace him. Hopefully. It hasn't exactly been announced...but it's about damn time.

  • ★ 50/50 Representation

Why should good government depend on only half of the nation’s human capital? WCF commits to 50/50 representation of women and men in elected office by 2028.

  • ★ Common Ground

Common ground just means problems get solved more collaboratively, for the good of more people. It’s the bedrock of our leadership at home and abroad.

  • ★ Viability for Election

It takes more than money to make a candidate worth electing. WCF looks for guts, street sense, situational awareness, resilience -- the full range of gifts a woman brings to the race.

  • ★ Non-Partisan

A woman’s place is in every party, every elected office, at every level. Period.
