COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Women’s Campaign Forum (WCF) has an immediate opening for a Communications Coordinator in their Washington, D.C. office. This position reports to the Communications and New Media Manager and works closely with the Political and Development Departments. The position will also work on projects for WCF’s 501(c)(3) Sister Organization, WCF Foundation. The Communications Coordinator will assist with management of Communications Department Fellows.

Founded in 1974, WCF is the only national, non-partisan political organization supporting women who respect reproductive health choices at all levels of office, during the earliest stages of their public life.
ABOUT WCF FOUNDATION
WCF Foundation, founded in 2006, conducts action-oriented research and pilots targeted programs that prepare women to become more politically active, increase their engagement in key democratic processes, and ready them for public leadership roles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Online Communications:
- Assist with daily management of website, blog, social media, email communications, and online campaigns.
- Execute tasks surrounding special projects for WCF and WCF Foundation, which includes drafting website copy, writing blog posts, promoting online campaigns, managing online ad campaigns, contacting press, and engaging social networks.
- Manage WCF and WCF Foundation membership, including recruitment, engagement, email correspondence with, and maintenance of Members.
- Perform regular data maintenance of online members and email subscribers.
- Assist with graphic design and video editing as needed.
Media Relations:
- Assist with development and execution of media relations plan.
- Perform regular and targeted press outreach surrounding current events, candidates, or special projects.
- Develop and foster press relationships.
- Draft press releases and assist with planning of press conferences as needed.
Organizational branding and consistency:
- Assist with implementation of consistent organizational branding and language.
- Perform proofing and copy editing of materials from all departments.
- Work with Communications Manager and Political Department to continually develop talking points, messaging, and communications strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a technically savvy, detail-oriented individual who has the ability to work well in a dynamic, small-team environment and carry out goals and timelines – even with competing priorities. Blog junkies and politicos encouraged to apply. Must have a demonstrated ability to create and implement a multitude of online communication needs—from social media to blogging to email campaigns.
This position requires someone who learns quickly, works efficiently, and keeps a positive outlook. The ability to flourish within a small team as well as work independently is essential. Must bring creativity, enthusiasm, and professionalism to the position.
This individual should be dedicated to advancing women’s rights and representation in public office, with a passion for reproductive rights.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of online platforms.
- HTML knowledge and experience.
- Excellent and proven writing skills required: Samples will be requested.
- Website development/maintenance using CMS or HTML required.
- Professional social media experience required.
- Graphic design and video editing knowledge/experience strongly desired.
- A strong understanding of politics, blogosphere, and media are a must.
- Outstanding interpersonal communications skills.
- Detail oriented with ability to prioritize.
- Ability to be a team player and work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Robust organizational skills and strong work ethic.
- Willingness to travel and work additional hours around high-impact times for the organization
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Advanced Excel and internet research skills.
