Spring Fellows 2010
We have 6 fellows working in our office across our various departments: Political Programs, Development, Communications, Operations & WCF Foundation Research. Click here to learn more about our fellowship program.
Frances McGaffey, Foundation Research Fellow
Randi Moore, Political Programs Fellow
A California native, Randi finally made her way to the East coast after a brief stint in Southwestern Ohio, where she earned her MA in Women’s & Gender Studies from the University of Cincinnati. Before that, Randi was spoiled by the sun and sand while completing a BA in Sociology at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA. With a passion for reproductive justice for women of color, her role as the WCF Political Programs Fellow is a natural way to bridge theory and practice – helping to support women candidates that will ensure that all women have a choice. Caitlin O'Brien, Development Fellow
Hailing from Silver Spring, MD, Caitlin is a pseudo DC native with a passion for politics. She graduated from the University of Vermont in May 2009 with a double major in Political Science and Geography. During her time at UVM, she developed an interest in women’s issues as a peer health educator and advocate for social justice. While she misses the beauty of the Green Mountains, Caitlin is excited to be back in DC and working for WCF. This is the perfect step on her path to becoming Amy Gardner from “The West Wing.”
Jean Qiao, Online Communications Fellow
Jean Qiao is originally from Albany, NY and is currently an undergraduate at George Washington University. She will graduate in May with a major in international affairs and minor in women’s studies. As a first generation Chinese American, she has been devoted to giving a voice to the minority population as well as the feminist movement in general. Jean is excited to have been given this opportunity to contribute to the WCF’s communications department.
Mary Helena Schilling, Development Fellow
Mary Schilling became an inspired feminist at age 5, when a male classmate insisted she “quit her job and stay home with the kids” while playing house in her hometown of Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York. After studying Biology and Gender Studies at Cornell University, she spent a year completing an AmeriCorps term as the Program Director for Mainely Girls in rural Camden, Maine. She is thrilled to be working for WCF this spring, and is particularly excited about this opportunity to explore her passions for politics, gender equality, and reproductive rights in a fast-paced city with a warmer climate.
Laura Shubert, Law & Operations Fellow
Kimberly Ketchoyian, Finance & Operations Fellow
Kimberly is a junior at American University majoring in International studies with a focus in International Development. Originally from Chelmsford, Massachusetts with a distinct New England accent, she has a strong interest in peace and conflict and genocide studies and has participated in several Armenian genocide recognition programs. After college, Kimberly would like to continue living in Washington DC working for an international women’s rights or human rights abuse organization. Kimberly intends on studying abroad in New Zealand next year and circumnavigating the world on a schooner. Her best moment in Washington DC was attending President Obama’s Inauguration ceremony along with 2 million shivering people.
Katie Sue Zellner, Finance & Operations Fellow
Katie is a native of Lynchburg, Virginia and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied Environmental Studies and Public Policy. Before joining the Women’s Campaign Forum, Katie spent six months in Cape Town, South Africa working in institutional development and fundraising for the South African Education and Environment Project (SAEP). Additionally, she taught Chemistry and English in The Hope Scholars Program, one of SAEP’s after-school enrichment initiatives. Katie is thrilled to make D.C. her point of re-entry into the U.S. and is looking forward to helping WCF champion women in public office. Outside of women in politics, her passions span recycling, English grammar, ballet, modern dance, Jane Austen novels, and spicy food. Starting in September, Katie will be teaching in New York City public schools as a Teach For America corps member.
