Statement on the 2016 Election

The Women's Campaign Fund was created to support women candidates, Democrats and Republicans, working together, building together, and coming to solutions that create a more perfect union. Although we did not endorse any candidates in 2016, last night's surprising election results delivered a new opportunity for us to reach common ground.

President-elect Donald Trump’s statement for the future is one we share: "Now it is time for America to bind the wounds of division, ...to get together, to all Republicans and Democrats and independents across this nation, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people."

Secretary Hillary Clinton also said: “We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought… I still believe in America and I always will. I count my blessings every single day that I am an American. And I still believe as deeply as I ever have that if we stand together and work together with respect for our differences, strength in our convictions and love for this nation, our best days are still ahead of us.”

WCF will rise to meet this moderate test of our commitment to increasing the numbers of candidates of both Republican and Democratic women in elected office. Please join us.

  • ★ 50% Representation

Why should good government depend on only half of the nation’s human capital? WCF commits to 50% representation of women in elected office by 2028.

  • ★ Common Ground

Common ground just means problems get solved more collaboratively, for the good of more people. It’s the bedrock of our leadership at home and abroad.

  • ★ Viability for Election

It takes more than money to make a candidate worth electing. WCF looks for guts, street sense, situational awareness, resilience -- the full range of gifts a woman brings to the race.

  • ★ Non-Partisan

A woman’s place is in every party, every elected office, at every level. Period.
