BRIEF: Dance Party of My Dreams

Weekly Brief: March 18th, 2015
Brought to you by Women's Campaign Fund

Spoiler Alert: You Make Less
A new analysis showed that it could take 144 years before Wyoming women make as much as men. Wanna see how your state ranks? Spoiler alert: it's not good. The pay gap is alive and well in America, but thankfully there is something we can do to change that. More women in politics, please!

Currency Ceiling
This month, 'Women on 20s' organized a stellar petition to change the face of the $20 bill by 2020. Sure, the wage gap might not close by then—but seeing a lady on a $20 bill might make me a little less annoyed. A little.

Supreme Wisdom
Need something to get you over this hump day? "8 Ruth Bader Ginsburg Quotes To Celebrate 82 Notorious Years" should definitely do the trick. Happy belated, Queen RBG!

Loopholes On Loopholes
Student's medical records are being viewed without their permission, so Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (D-Ore.) is taking action. Definitely behind Bonamici on this one—'cause that's totally illegal and she's totally awesome.

In horrible news, Loretta Lynch's confirmation will be stalled...again. Unless provisions on human trafficking and abortion bills are resolved, Lynch has to wait. You know, good ole playin' politics with people's lives!

How About No?
When I think of solving the campus rape epidemic, I don't think of firearms. Unfortunately, the situation has gotten so bad that many think this is the answer. I'd like to think that NOT RAPING people and having an ounce of human decency would be the solution.

Terry Woes
Just when I thought I couldn't love Terry Crews any more, the seasoned expert in feminism just dropped even more truth bombs. Have we perfected the act of human cloning? We need more Terry Crews in this world.

America Has Spoken
According to a new poll, folks across the nation want Tina Fey to host "The Daily Show." I'm with ya, America. All I can do now is hope my daydreams manifest into reality.

Dance Party of My Dreams
Another reoccurring daydream of mine is that I'm dancing with Michelle Obama and Ellen DeGeneres. So, when I saw them perform #GimmeFive to celebrate the "Let's Move" anniversary—I had to pinch myself. Is this real life?

  • ★ 50/50 Representation

Why should good government depend on only half of the nation’s human capital? WCF commits to 50/50 representation of women and men in elected office by 2028.

  • ★ Common Ground

Common ground just means problems get solved more collaboratively, for the good of more people. It’s the bedrock of our leadership at home and abroad.

  • ★ Viability for Election

It takes more than money to make a candidate worth electing. WCF looks for guts, street sense, situational awareness, resilience -- the full range of gifts a woman brings to the race.

  • ★ Non-Partisan

A woman’s place is in every party, every elected office, at every level. Period.
