Connie Stokes


Connie Stokes’ journey from poverty and adversity to a highly accomplished public servant is a testament to her incredible work ethic and unshakeable determination. In addition to her extensive experience as a former Georgia State Senator and DeKalb County Commissioner, Connie will bring a much needed new perspective to the Lieutenant Governor’s office as the first woman to hold that post.


Lieutenant Governor – Georgia – Challenger. If elected, Connie will be Georgia’s first woman Lieutentant Governor.


Connie served in the Georgia State Senate from 1995-2004.

While in the State Senate, Connie served as Chairwoman of the Senate Health and Human Services committee and the Senate Appropriations, Banking, and Insurance committees.

She then served as DeKalb County Commissioner from 2004-2010.

In her capacity as Commissioner, Connie chaired the Budget and Finance Committee and worked towards advancing an efficient local government and a balanced budget.

Connie’s was also appointment to the National Board of Directors of the National Association of County Officials.
