Women's Campaign Forum

WCF, founded in 1974, is the only national, non-partisan political organization supporting women who respect reproductive health choices at all levels of office, during the earliest stages of their public life.

Happy Hour: The Hill’s Got Talent

Thank you! Our Second Annual Hill's Got Talent Happy Hour was a great success!

We all had an amazing time mingling with the Hill's Rising Stars, our Celebrity Bartenders from the blogosphere, our WCF Endorsed Candidates, and other fantastic D.C. professionals.

The Hill's Got TalentYou've heard America's Got Talent, but we've got news for you...
the Hill's Got Talent, too!

WCF’s Hill's Got Talent Happy Hour provides an opportunity to spotlight the unsung heroes who support our leading members of Congress.

Join us as we honor the Hill's Got Talent Class of 2010: We will toast to the next generation of female staff members who have gone above and beyond their usual duties—highlighting them as some of the most promising rising stars of the political arena.

This program will emphasize the importance of mentoring and networking for women in politics—helping us to foster the growth and leadership of women on the Hill and beyond. Bring your business cards and get ready to network!

Along with the Rising Stars of the Hill, our celebrity bartenders will be there to mix drinks and help you make connections. This year’s celebrity bartenders are all prominent political bloggers, committed to increasing women’s political participation.

Politics isn’t the only male dominated field in this country – these well-connected bloggers represent the female Rising Stars of the blogosphere.

Meet our 2010 celebrity bartenders
:

Amanda Hess
covers sexism in the media, politics, and life, on the Washington City Paper Blog, The Sexist.

Nisha Chittal may be our celebrity bartender, but she’s actually another kind of “-aholic:” Her blog Politicoholic provides news tidbits for the politically obsessed, informed by Nisha’s extensive experience working in Washington.

Joanne Bamberger
knows how to juggle (drinks): She’s a mom, a former lawyer, and a political commentator. Her blog PunditMom combines her varied expertise and provides a unique perspective on women’s (and mothers’) role in politics.

Ann Friedman
has blogged and written her way around DC as the Deputy Editor at the American Prospect, TAPPED, Mother Jones, AlterNet.org and Legal Momentum. As an editor at Feministing.com, she compiles news that enrages, inspires, and entertains feminists across the country.

Rachel Larris
at RHRealityCheck.org is holding our elected officials accountable and fighting for our reproductive health choices. Let’s toast Rachel for standing up for our rights!

If you're excited about our celebrity bartenders of the blogosphere, you should also join WCF and the White House Project for the BlogHer Conference on Thursday, August 5th. This workshop is designed to help women bloggers with a politics and public policy bent take their political leadership one step further and become aspiring public servants. Learn more about the conference here and RSVP today!

WHY do we celebrate FEMALE STAFFERS on the Hill?
Because just like women candidates, they're still largely underrepresented. Click here to read more in POLITICO by Erika Lovley.

Many thanks to the 2010 WCF partners who make all of our programs possible, including our award-winning She Should Run™ program.
